At the recent May 27 chapter meeting, the Northern Lakes membership was provided a tour and demonstration of the newly installed WISCORS GPS station located in Rhinelander. A part of a statewide network of continuously operating reference stations, the station will provide land surveyors with a permanent location on which to base their surveys. For the second straight year, the Northern Lakes "Bucky's Challenge" trivia team resoundingly dropped the hammer on all but two teams during this year's competition at the annual WSLS Institute in Green Bay.
In addition to taking third place in the competition, the team also secured the coveted "best mascot" award as a result of a last minute alliance with Jim Winkler from Valley Surveying.
The competition is an annual event that supports the activities of the WSLS Foundation, this year securing $3,150 towards future surveying scholarships and continued development of the surveying museum.
